Hiding in a hope Don't feel irrelevant Hiding in a hope so the world don't feel irrelevant Do you recognize a voice in the chorus of all that's being born? Do you recognize a new night before us? A separate road that's being born Hiding in a hope so we don't feel irrelevant

about

Fishing the Sky is "back"(!?) And, also happy to announce, a duo again, longtime jabroni-in-arms and dance move innovator Jeff Glowik is in the house on vocals and guitar.

During the COVID-19 quarantine Jeff and I (Rob) started sending each other song ideas. Those ideas became 2 songs. We think they turned out pretty rad so we wanted to share them and, maybe do a little bit of good in the process.

The EP is pay-what-you want. 100% of the revenue from any sales of this and all other past Fishing the Sky releases will be split 50/50 between charities important to both Jeff and I - Behind You and The Bread and Roses Community Fund.

We're super stoked on how these came out. Maybe there will be more, maybe there won't? Enjoy these for now.

Educators who serve students in communities that continue to experience systemic oppression, structural racism and white supremacy did not need a global pandemic to unearth the gross inequities within our society. We observe them every day. Yet, the pandemic is accelerating and widening the injustices that existed. As a Principal in Philadelphia, I am witnessing the slashing of my schools budget, the loss of crucial resources, the effects of a broken healthcare systems on our families, the impact of limited social services and access, the devastation of unchecked capitalism and so much more. As the crisis continues, it is crucial for schools and other community partners to act boldly to support children, families and the community at large.

The Bread and Roses Community Fund is a prime example of an organization whose mission and actions are directly aligned to the support that communities need and deserve. The non-profit organizes donors at all levels to support community-based groups in building movements for racial equity and economic opportunity for all. They support movements and their leaders through fundraising, grantmaking, capacity building, and convening. To date, their leadership has unleashed more than $13 million to flow to local grassroots groups taking collective action toward the liberation of all people.

about

Fishing the Sky Salem, Massachusetts

My name is Rob, this is Fishing the Sky.

Fishing the Sky is a musical endeavour that seethes melancholy and yet, is vigorously triumphant. An evocatively atmospheric outing, Thank You, released in Spring '12, encompasses the stark dichotomy of emotion present in each respective composition. Musician Rob Hughes has constructed a space-age vehicle for post-modern rhythms that is unsurpassed. ... more
